'The Hour-Watcher' is the story of a priestess in an ancient Egyptian temple who learns about a discrepancy in the calendars used in the temple. The story includes information about some of the different methods of measuring time used in ancient Egypt. This section can be used for introducing pupils to how time was kept in ancient Egypt, as well as the relationship between methods of time-keeping and the need for varying degrees of accuracy. |

The explore section consists of four different time lines. The main time line highlights main events, people and accomplishments in the history of ancient Egypt, including episodes from the ‘re-discovery' of ancient Egypt in the nineteenth century. The remaining time lines follow the development of writing, mummification and pyramids in ancient Egypt. This section can be used to look at change and continuity in ancient Egypt over time, as well as the duration of ancient Egyptian civilisation. |
