Gold ring with carnelian cat
Around 1300 B.C.

The tiny stone on this ring is carved in the shape of a cat. It is made out of a semi-precious stone called carnelian.

Cats were very important to the ancient Egyptians. They kept cats as pets in their homes, and worshipped goddesses that were associated with cats.
